About the Episode
The what's what...
Southern New Hampshire University has been a household name when it comes to online education. But the campus-based program has operated independently, for the most part, for decades. However, there was a recognized need to optimize process and technology in order to better serve students. The COVID-19 pandemic increased the urgency for this need and SNHU stepped up to the challenge.
This week, Mickey and Jamie are joined by Tim Whittum, SNHU's Associate Vice President of Campus Admissions. These three higher ed pros dive deep into the changes that are being made at SNHU with their CRM, their internal resources, the academic model, and more. Listen to how this massive institution has dealt with many of the same struggles that are faced by smaller, independent colleges and universities.
Through it all, SNHU has pressed forward with technology even when they had the option to coast - and this is EXACTLY what has made them an innovator in the higher ed space. If you are interested in challenging conventional thinking, don't miss this episode.
About the Podcast
Mickey Baines leads the technology services practice at Kennedy & Company. Kennedy & Co assists colleges and universities in the selection, implementation, customization and integration of various CRM technologies, including Salesforce, TargetX, Slate and others. They lead projects of all sizes for public and private two and four-year institutions. Whether he's working hands-on in an enrollment strategy project, leading a CRM implementation or speaking at a conference, the goal is the same - to help higher ed professionals implement technologies, strategies & tactics that engage and enroll more students.
Jamie Gleason is the Vice President Of Enrollment Strategy at Direct Development. He brings over 15 years of higher education experience to the team; almost a decade of which was spent on campus(es) and nearly six years was in edtech. A self-proclaimed "farmer + fixer," Enrollment has always provided the perfect challenge for him! He's happiest when mining through spreadsheets, results, and (generally) any type of data!
Tim Whittum is an Associate Vice President of Admission at Southern New Hampshire University. He specifically oversees the teams and operations that support and drive enrollment for SNHU’s main campus in Manchester, NH. With 15 years of experience in enrollment management (the last decade all at SNHU), Tim is passionate about access and pathways to education and in providing students an authentic, supportive admission experience. In 2019 he was named one of the National Association for College Admission Counseling’s Professionals of the Year, an award that recognizes individuals for their ethical advocacy for students and proven record of accomplishment throughout their career. Outside of higher education, Tim is a father of three (aged six and under, a fun experience while working from home during a pandemic), a lover of video games and fantasy football, and a health enthusiast.
