Joe discusses how he convinced his senior leaders that TikTok was worth investing in and shares several stories detailing the lessons he learned when first launching the account on what to do and what not to do when creating original content.

Joe DelNero is the Digital Media and Communications Manager at Colorado School of Mines. He has more than eight years of experience in digital strategy, with five years focused on higher education. Joe manages all of the primary Colorado School of Mines social media accounts, and instigated the school’s foray into TikTok and Instagram Reels. His work as a videographer and photographer has helped Mines jump on social trends quickly. In the past year, Joe’s efforts on Mines’ TikTok have made it go from an unknown entity to an integral part of the school’s social media strategy.
